The Bayview Foundation was established in 1999 with the primary charitable focus of enriching the lives of children in South Florida by providing them with educational outreach programs that enhance their academic achievement.
Since its inception, the Foundation has been an active sponsor of the I Have a Dream® program in Miami. We initiated our involvement in this program by "adopting" the 1999 first-grade class of the Charles Drew Elementary School, which is located in a low-income area of Miami.
Our goal is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children. We offer them advanced educational support and mentoring beginning at the elementary school level and continuing through high school, and also pledge to assist with the payment of their college tuition.
Our commitment is to provide these children with the academic tools and resources necessary to enable them to achieve a college education. Over the years, we have developed a variety of academic, cultural, community service and enrichment activities for "our" children, ranging from educational programs and field trips, to donations of a computer lab and educational software. Moreover, many Bayview employees have enhanced our efforts by volunteering their own time to provide this group of children with guidance and coaching.
We have been so pleased with the progress of this charitable effort that in 2006, we extended our sponsorship to a total of 313 children. We are proud to be making a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of children within our community by giving them the educational building blocks necessary to realize their full potential.
